Katy Pool House & Addition
A detached 800 square foot pool house and cabana with outdoor kitchen, tied into existing pool deck and landscaping.
The Project Story
The Challenge
The Patel family had a beautiful pool installed three years earlier but no shaded space to entertain or change in. They wanted a true detached pool house with a full bathroom, a wet bar, a covered outdoor kitchen, and a sleeping loft for visiting grandparents, all on a backyard footprint that couldn't impact the existing pool equipment or the irrigation lines.
The Approach
We surveyed the existing utilities first and routed all new plumbing and electrical around the irrigation main and pool equipment pad. The cabana was framed on a thickened-edge slab to handle Houston's expansive clay soils, and the addition was designed to match the main home's profile so the addition reads as original construction. The covered outdoor kitchen tied directly into the existing pool deck with a seamless travertine paver transition.
The Outcome
The Patels hosted their first Diwali celebration in the new cabana three months after move-in, and have since used it for two graduations and a wedding rehearsal dinner. The detached structure added meaningful value to the home and the family says the backyard now functions like a private resort.
